The fact that Gordon is blind obviously differentiates him from the outset. This has not deterred Gordon one bit and from an early age he has been clearing one hurdle after another. He was 1 of 6 blind children nationwide to first mainstream into the public-school system and ultimately received a full scholarship to Jacksonville State University. Gordon went on to graduate with honors from Belmont University.
Immediately upon graduation, Gordon joined the band of country music legend Lee Greenwood. After that experience, Gordon toured with Trisha Yearwood, Tanya Tucker, Porter Wagoner, the Gaither Vocal Band, and the Gaither Homecoming Tour. Gordon is also one of the most accomplished studio musicians in America. Across many genres, Gordon has played on over 150 Top Ten records. He has earned two Academy of Country Music Awards for top piano/keyboard player as well as two Music Row Instrumentalist of the Year Awards for playing on the most top ten albums. Additionally, Gordon has an impressive body of work as a solo artist having produced 10 solo albums including four Dove Award nominated efforts.
Gordon shares that, for him, collaboration is not only natural, it is necessary. Early on, he realized that if he was going to insert himself into society, he needed to be willing to work with people and be creative in how he communicated, learned, and grew. Being blind has forced Gordon to rely predominantly on hearing when communicating with others. His circumstances have made him an adept listener and one who understands how important the skill of listening is in successful collaboration.
Gordon has established himself in the music industry as more than a musician. When he is hired on a project the producer expects Gordon to bring leadership and a sense of collaboration into the studio. Gordon is the first to make suggestions on a project and brings out the best in other musicians. Gordon understands his job is to bring more than just the music.
Gordon also serves as a motivational speaker and works with some of the most influential speakers in America. He is always ready to share his story and most importantly how he attacks life with an attitude of getting things done and making an impact on everything he works on.
